Accepting multiple LinkedIn invitations bug

Work-around for LinkedIn accepting multiple invitations bug
For years, LinkedIn has had the ability to accept up to one screen full of invitations in a single action. The Select All button highlighted each of the records on the page. Since late August, however, this multiple accepting capability has been broken on LinkedIn - the screens freeze.

There are been dozens of inquiries regarding this LinkedIn problem. Open Networkers are logically more affected since it is hardest on those that deal with larger amounts of invitations.

I recently conversed with LinkedIn Sr. Product Manager Chris Richman and that conversation led to this work-around as LinkedIn prepares a permanent solution, expected in the coming weeks.

1. Select all the invitations that you want to accept, there is a SELECT ALL button at the top...

2. Go to the bottom of the screen and clickon the last checkbox. Or click on it twice to make it checked/unchecked as you wish Ithe point is just to get the cursor in that box)

3. Now, hit the tab key on your keyboard until the ACCEPT button is selected. You'll probably hit tab 3 times.

4. Scroll back up to the top of the page

5. Hit ENTER o your keyboard

It seems to work for most but not all at this point. Please let us know how it works for you.

With 100,000 LinkedIn Groups now in place, and with many users belonging to well more than 50 Groups, this is a big development. On August 14, LinkedIn will systematically trim the LinkedIn Groups of anyone that is over 50. They will simply let you keep the first 50 LinkedIn Groups that you joined.

Are there any tools or simplified ways to do this? No. One of our readers, a very advanced LinkedIn user named Rob Hayes has some tips:

Bring up 2 browser windows and have them logged into the LinkedIn Manage Groups screen

Use the Firefox browser if possible.

Do it late at night when the LinkedIn system is not getting hit so hard.

Realize that it is going to take some time as you must bring up each group, one at a time.

It will take even longer if you are actually going to analyze which ones to keep and which to break off from

Is it asking too much for a LinkedIn Group utility to let users simply check off the ones that they want and those that they don’t? Oh, and it would give show you how many users are in each group. Without having to open up each one individually to find out.

She was simply pooped at the end of the day. She asked how people find the time and energy to do on-line networking like LinkedIn. Well, the beauty of this type of networking is that it is Asynchronous. Wow, that’s a big word. Let me explain.

With an event (or a phone call) you have a Synchronous situation. This means that you must both be in the same place (or on the phone) at the same exact time to communicate. In a world where everyone is so busy, where there are 3 events on the same night and where we get voice mail 5 times as often as a real person, it is getting even harder to do Synchronous networking.

On-line networking, being Asynchronous, means that you can do your networking when it is most convenient for you. This is much like E-Mail. Two users do not need to be on E-Mail at the same time for it to work. This means that you can do it at your leisure, perhaps while watching TV. It lets you “get your wind” back and relax a bit before diving in. Personally, I always have the TV on at home when I do my on-line networking. It relaxes me and makes it seem like I am getting 2 things done at once. Give it a try.
